Pure electric tractor SESAM: sound like jets lasting 55 kilometers

Recently, American tractor manufacturer John Deere announced a video showing the first all-Electric Tractor it developed. This tractor development project, referred to as SESAM, is an abbreviation for “sustainable energy supply for agricultural machinery”. At the Paris International Agricultural Exhibition held in April 2017, John Deere is preparing to officially release electric tractors.

We currently only know some limited information. The tractor is equipped with an oversized 150 kWh battery, which is larger than any Tesla car. It takes 55 kilometers to charge once, and it takes 3 hours to fully charge.

The tractor sounds great. All tractors sound a lot, but the sound of the John Deere electric tractor is a bit different. A few seconds in the video is natural audio, which sounds like SESAM has a huge turbine installed. It is the turbine that is installed on the jet.

The sound of SESAM is somewhat similar to that of the Formula E electric formula car. One thing is interesting. Mahindra is a manufacturing company from India. It formed a team to participate in Formula E and is very competitive. Coincidentally, Mahindra happens to be the world's top tractor manufacturer, and in the past decade it has taken a lot of John Deere in the United States.

Could it be said that the electric tractor war will break out in the next few years? It is possible, although Mahindra did not announce any plans related to electric tractors. But electric tractors seem to be the next stop. In the design competition held in 2012, Mahindra tried this concept, and now it is making electric bicycles and electric motorcycles.
